Education Policy Fellowship Program

Reflecting on the Process of Education Reform

May 7, 2007
12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Kellogg Center, MSU

During this seminar the Fellows will look back at Michigan's High School Reform initiative a year after its formal adoption, and reflect on the process and the impact of these key Michigan Department of Education (MDE), State Board of Education and legislative policy actions.  The participants will examine the process of policy development, policy adoption and policy implementation and the steps that led to the adoption and roll out of the Michigan Merit Curriculum.  This will serve as the backdrop for a discussion of the policy implications of the recommendations being developed by the MDE's current Teacher Preparation Policy Study Group.  The goal for the day will be to achieve a better understanding of the connections and relationships between these two significant policy reform initiatives.
